Wide Receiver, Denzel Mims

Denzel Mims is a freakishly athletic wide receiver from the University of Baylor. Mims, 22, had a successful career at Baylor, hauling in 186 receptions for nearly 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Mims’ 28 touchdowns ranks 23rd all-time in Big-12 history for receiving touchdowns in a career. Mims also had a yard per reception average of 15.7 yards. Imagine a number two or three wide receiver on the Saints that could give Drew Brees 15 yards per reception.

The 6-foot-3, 208-pound wideout would likely be a first-round pick any other year, but since the 2020 NFL Draft is so deep at the receiver position, he is projected to go in the second or third round.

Mims has excellent size and speed which helped him post the great NFL Scouting Combine results he did.

Mims logged a 4.38 40-yard dash to go along with his 4.43 20-yard shuttle and 6.66 three-cone drill. Mims also banged out sixteen reps on the bench press and had a vertical jump on 38.5 inches.

The NFL projects Mims to be a starter within his first two NFL seasons if all goes well. If Mims can polish up his route running a bit with the guidance of Michael Thomas and Drew Brees, he could be a successful receiving prospect for the Saints in the third round.
