Detriot Lions, CB, Darius Slay

Darius Slay has been one of the most interesting topics of discussion around the secondary. The Lions cornerback wants out of Detroit and the Lions are looking to let him leave. The only problem — Slay is in a contract year.

That makes his trade that much more difficult because the New Orleans Saints would not only need to prepare to make the Lions an offer for the cornerback, but the Saints would also need to fork over the money to sign Slay to a huge extension that he is looking for.

Don’t get me wrong, Slay is 100% worth the investment but that is not the question. The question is if the Saints can afford that kind of contractual commitment in this specific offseason where they have 20+ free agents.

However, Slay would solidify the foundation of the secondary for the Saints. Playing opposite Marshon Lattimore, the two could end up being considered the best cornerback duo in the entire NFL if this trade were to happen.
