Number Two: Wil Lutz

Wil Lutz was signed by the New Orleans Saints before the start of the 2016 season after the Baltimore Ravens released him following a camp battle with Ravens’ star kicker Justin Tucker.

Lutz went on to make the PFWA All-Rookie team in his debut campaign after he nailed 28 out of 34 field goals (82.4 percent) with a long of 57 yards. In his tenure with New Orleans, Lutz has nailed 119 of his 136 career field goal attempts (87.5 percent) with a long of 58 yards.

In such a short amount of time, Wil Lutz has become one of the Saints’ best kickers in franchise history (behind Morten Andersen and Tom Dempsey, of course) and was locked up with a five-year contract extension last offseason.

Lutz made his first Pro Bowl in 2019 after nailing 32 of his 36 field goal attempts and drilling 48 of his 49 extra-point attempts.

Wil Lutz holds numerous New Orleans and NFL records and is loved by everyone on the team. Lutz has always had a sure leg and has never missed a game which is why he ranks as the second-best free-agent signing in the past five years.
