Number Three: Marquise Goodwin

Marquise Goodwin is a freakishly fast wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers and formerly of the Buffalo Bills. Goodwin was a third-round pick back in 2013, but injuries have derailed his career.

Goodwin, 29, has 140 receptions for 2,323 yards and 13 total touchdowns in his career to go along with his 468 career return yards and 89 career rushing yards. Goodwin had the third-fastest 40-yard dash time in NFL history back in 2013 when he ran a staggering 4.27.

The Saints simply need to revamp their entire receiving corps and bringing in a speedy veteran like Marquise Goodwin would be genius. Goodwin is 29 and entering the final two years of his contract so his price tag shouldn’t be expensive.

If you pair that alongside his injury history then all of a sudden you get a guy who could ultimately be cheaper than the majority of free agents on the market this year. Goodwin would be cheap depth and bring a veteran presence to a rather inexperienced New Orleans offense.

The 49ers have a surplus of talent at the wide receiver position and they said they were likely to trade or cut Goodwin during the offseason.

Next. The 3 smartest decisions Saints could make this offseason. dark

Goodwin’s speed can take the top off defenses and Michael Thomas, Jared Cook, and Alvin Kamara can rack up receptions in the short to mid yardage areas. Goodwin is a very humble, smart football player who can provide Super Bowl-caliber depth to a needy New Orleans offense.
