Before the free agency period comes around and teams are allowed to start contacting the unrestricted free agents, the New Orleans Saints need to get these contracts finalized.

The New Orleans Saints have over 20 players currently on the free agency market.

Once the period starts, which is still set at March 18, all those players will be eligible to be contacted by other teams and therefore have a greater likelihood of being enticed away from New Orleans.

There are several of those free agents who are vital parts of the New Orleans Saints team and therefore will need to be retained for the best interest of the franchise. In order to have the best results in re-signing, they will need to get deals done before the period starts.

The new league year starts soon, with a March 18 plan for free agency still in motion although many other leagues have altered their schedule due to the coronavirus. At that point, the Saints will be free to negotiate new deals and announce deals that have been made.

Until then, the Saints need to be working diligently to get a deal done with these three players.
