Number Three: Draft a linebacker in the first round

The Saints have a few needs to address this offseason but the biggest need nobody is talking about is the need at the linebacker position.

The Saints have four linebackers hitting the market this offseason and an additional four linebackers set to hit the market in 2021. This year, thankfully, the only notable names hitting the market are AJ Klein and Manti Te’o.

Next year, however, the Saints won’t be so lucky. The Saints have Craig Robertson, Alex Anzalone, Kiko Alonso, and Demario Davis all set to hit the free agent market in 2021.

The fact that all those players are set to hit the market proves that the Saints need to prioritize drafting a linebacker in the first round who could step up and take the place of one of those guys.

The Saints will likely break the bank trying to keep Demario Davis in New Orleans and they might bring back Alex Anzalone if the price is right, but he has missed more games than he’s played in in his career thus far.

If the Saints are able to score another first round pick by letting Taysom Hill walk, they can address the wide receiver and linebacker need in the first round. That would be huge to add that talent for the coming season.

Snagging a guy like Kenneth Murray from Oklahoma or Patrick Queen from LSU would be ideal for adding reliable depth to a needy Saints roster.
