The need for an upgrade

Arguably, addressing the offensive line could be the most important need of the offseason.

Why?

Because without a dominant offensive line, the Saints offense cannot function (as we saw against the Minnesota Vikings).

The Saints would be wise to look carefully at the free-agent market and sign a quality starting guard. Joe Thuney and Brandon Scherff are the top two options that come to mind, but they will most likely be out of the Saints price range unless more cap space is freed up somehow.

The more realistic choice is Graham Glasgow, who won’t cost as much as Thuney or Scherff, and can play both guard and center. The Saints can also look to add depth in the draft with picks in rounds 1,3,4,5, and 6.

Overall, adding quality offensive linemen should be a top priority this offseason.
