The left guard

Andrus Peat had his moments here in New Orleans since being drafted 13th overall in 2015, but last season was definitely not one of them.

He was clearly the weakest point of the Saints offensive line and it really showed. Peat will be a free agent at the start of the league year and I’d be absolutely shocked to see the Saints sign him back in 2020.

That brings us to our next question: Who will be the next starting left guard?

In my opinion, the next left guard is not on the Saints roster right now. Nick Easton played well in his limited time last season, but not well enough to convince me that Sean Payton is sold on him just yet.

Patrick Omameh is a versatile backup that is extremely valuable to have on any roster, but he’s also an upcoming free agent and we have yet to hear about any plans the Saints may have of re-signing him.

Even so, I think he’s perfect for the role he served in being the 6th offensive lineman that can play tackle or guard. If Omameh signs with another team, the Saints will desperately need to sign another versatile offensive lineman considering the long list of injuries over the past few seasons.
