Number Five: QB

The New Orleans Saints have some big decisions to make this offseason as they currently have no quarterbacks on the roster.

You might be wondering why this is the fifth most dire need if there isn’t currently a quarterback on the team; well that’s because the Saints are going to re-sign Drew Brees as he announced he would be returning for another season and Taysom Hill will likely return as well.

The only downside of the Saints bringing back Drew Brees is that Brees will end up taking up the majority of the cap space when the Saints are already in the top-ten teams with the least cap space.

Teddy Bridgewater is definitely on the way out as the Saints have made it clear that once Brees is done, Taysom is their guy. The Saints will still need a third-string quarterback to groom behind Brees for one season and compete with Taysom Hill for the starting job next year.

Marcus Mariota is a guy who comes to mind. Mariota is a very good quarterback who can thrive in the right system. I truly believe Sean Payton could turn Marcus Mariota into an MVP candidate with the Saints.

His athleticism is unreal and he would have a great offense and terrific offensive line to work with. The Saints could utilize the 2020 NFL Draft to fill their need at the position.

The Saints have been paired with Jordan Love from Utah State for a while now and could select him in the first round if he falls to the 24th pick despite the fact that the Saints currently hold the longest streak of not drafting a quarterback in the first round of the draft (49 years, Archie Manning).

The Saints also privately worked out Florida International quarterback James Morgan during the combine and could target him later in the draft.
