There is no doubt that the New Orleans Saints have had their fair share of issues at the wide receiver position this past season.

The New Orleans Saints are in dire need of help at the wide receiver position to provide support alongside Michael Thomas.

In 2019, New Orleans Saints wide receivers not named Michael Thomas hauled in 54 receptions. Yes, you read that correctly. The eight other New Orleans Saints wide receivers hauled in a total of just 54 receptions in all of 2019.

Getting Michael Thomas some help is crucial and adding explosive weapons for Drew Brees to throw to is a must. That’s likely something they’ll address in the upcoming draft.

Keith Kirkwood, Austin Carr, and Ted Ginn Jr. are all set to hit the free-agent market this year. Kirkwood is the only player of the three I would consider re-signing as he is still young and has shown great promise in his career thus far. He’s just struggled to stay on the field.

Tre’Quan Smith and Deonte Harris are under contract until 2022 and Michael Thomas until 2025. Building up a young talented receiving corp to form around the key pieces already in town needs to be the main priority for the Saints this offseason.

Adding a player like Randall Cobb, Emmanuel Sanders, or AJ Green in free agency would be huge. A veteran presence with reliable hands would be a perfect fit in a Drew Brees led offense. A veteran addition would be ideal, but cap is limited, potentially making that an issue.

The Saints are in a prime position to get a quality receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft. Securing a young receiver and a veteran would be an ideal offseason for the team especially given their 41-year-old quarterback.

Adding a young receiver to a reliable receiving corps with a veteran leader would turn one of the most unproductive receiving corps to one of the best in the league in a matter of months.
