New Orleans Saints’ Teddy Bridgewater is likely on his way out of the Big Easy, and he’s apparently been “consistently attached” to the LA Chargers.

The New Orleans Saints needed Teddy Bridgewater to come in clutch during the team’s 13-3 regular season. When Drew Brees was sidelined, fans thought all hope was lost, but Bridgewater had different plans.

He stepped in and rallied the Saints, totaling five straight victories before handing the keys back to future first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees. Bridgewater made the most of his time and will find a sizable contract this offseason due to those five games.

That said, Brees was debating whether or not to retire, and he’s deciding to come back, likely completing a deal with the Saints once the March 18 free agency period opens up. There’s extremely little change Brees heads where.

That will push Bridgewater elsewhere as he’ll be in search of that starting quarterback role. That elsewhere is still to be determined. Without much mid-tier quarterback play, Bridgewater will likely have an array of high-paying options.

He could stay in the NFC South with teams like Carolina or Tampa Bay. However, there will be a myriad of teams that will be looking forward to tossing him a hefty contract, potentially the Miami Dolphins included.

Or, as Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman is reporting, he could go to the team that been “consistently attached” to the 27-year-old. That team is none other than the Los Angeles Chargers who will be saying goodbye to long-time quarterback Phillip Rivers.

Bridgewater threw for nine touchdowns and two interceptions in those five games. After injuries almost derailed his career entirely, the former Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback bounced back and has proven that he can continue to win. Bridgewater has a career 22-12 record.

As aforementioned, Rivers is out and the Chargers need a consistent quarterback. They can build around Bridgewater given their other highly talented players like Keenan Allen and Hunter Henry. They do not need a superstar QB to win.

They need a quality QB. That’s what Bridgewater could bring, but will he want to head out to the West Coach? That’s still to be determined.
