Re-sign Drew Brees

Drew Brees has announced that he is returning for the 2020-2021 season; however, he is still a free agent until the New Orleans Saints offer him a contract. This will have to be a meticulously thought out contract as well.

For the Saints to add the people that they need to make them a Super Bowl contending team, Drew Brees will not be able to accept over $20 million again. He will need to cut his contract significantly to help the team.

Brees is entering his 20th season and he already has over $20 million in the dead cap that the New Orleans Saints already owe him regardless of where he signs. Therefore, he should sign a lower contract because of that.

Whichever way it works out, the New Orleans Saints still need to make it a priority to 1) re-sign Brees and 2) offer him a contract that will allow the Saints to go all out in putting people around Brees to succeed and lead to a Super Bowl.
