Green Would Likely Take A Pay Cut To Contend

AJ Green has never seen much success aside from his personal success in a Bengals uniform. Since Green’s arrival in 2011, the Bengals have gone just 73-69. They made the playoffs five times in that span, however, losing all five games in the Wild Card round.

If AJ signs with the Saints, he would be joining a squad who has gone 89-55 since 2011 and went an accumulative 4-5 in playoff games. The addition of AJ Green would put the Saints over the hump.

AJ Green made just under twelve million dollars without playing a snap last season due to an ankle injury.

The Saints could likely drive that number down a bit considering they are a contending team, AJ has missed 24 games over the span of two seasons, and Green will turn 32 in July.

It’s unclear what the Bengals intentions are with AJ Green, but he said he would not turn down a franchise tag worth $18 million from the Bengals. The Bengals appeared to try to trade Green during the 2019 season too and the Saints were a team who inquired about him.

Seeing how the Saints reached out to the Bengals about Green and the need for him is still prevalent, the Saints should go after AJ Green while they have the chance.
