Dalton Hilliard played for the New Orleans Saints for his entire eight-year career from 1986 to 1993 when he retired. Hilliard was never the star running back, save one year where he just went off like he was a star.
Hilliard played the backup role for seven of his eight seasons never starting more than eight games in any one season except for 1989. He made a career for the backup role, but the one season in 1989 is the reason Hilliard is here.
During the 1989 season, Hilliard started all 16 games for the New Orleans Saints. He ran the ball 344 times for 1,262 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also added in 52 receptions for 514 yards and five touchdowns. He was selected to the Pro-Bowl that year as well.
