Dave Waymer was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 1980. He played with the Saints from 1980-1989 when we went to the San Francisco 49ers from 1990-1991. He finished his career in 1992 with the Los Angeles Raiders before retiring.

In the ten seasons that Waymer spent with the New Orleans Saints, he definitely left a mark. He started a total of 131 games out of a possible 149 games in those ten seasons. He finished his Saints’ career with 37 interceptions.

He ranks No. 1 all-time in Saints’ history in interceptions; however, he never returned one of those 37 for a touchdown. He added to those interceptions 15 fumble recoveries. He played cornerback for his entire career with the Saints until his last season where he transitioned to safety.

Waymer was selected to one Pro-Bowl with the New Orleans Saints and that was in 1987. Dave Waymer made his impact on the franchise during the 80s and will forever go down in New Orleans Saints history.
