No. 1 Linebacker AJ Klein:

AJ Klein had a career year for the Saints in 2019.

Injuries plagued the New Orleans defense consistently in 2019, but Klein time and time again stepped up to the plate. Alex Anzalone was lost for the year to an injury and Klein filled right in and didn’t miss a beat.

Klein had 68 tackles, five tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, five QB hits, one interception, one touchdown, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. AJ always seemed to make a play when it mattered most.

His veteran leadership and physical play seemed to spark the Saints defense when AJ would make a big play. Klein’s leadership abilities, consistent play, and veteran presence should keep him in New Orleans for 2020 and beyond.

That said, at the end of the day, Klein and the other four elite Saints should be players the team looks into keeping for the long haul.
