Teddy Bridgewater is the 2nd string quarterback for the New Orleans Saints.

He was acquired from the New York Jets via trade before the 2018 NFL season. After showing promise of a possible future replacement for Drew Brees, the Saints elected to re-sign Bridgewater for a one year contract in 2019.

The decision to re-sign Bridgewater this year was proven to be a wise choice for the Saints. After Brees injured his thumb in the 27-9 loss to the LA Rams in week 2, Teddy would not only finish the game at quarterback, he would go on to start the next five.

Saints fans were devastated by the loss of their star quarterback, and much was wondered if Teddy could possibly steer the ship to a decent record while Drew was out.

To most Saints fans’ surprise, Bridgewater blew away expectations going 5-0 in Brees’ absence, sending a wave of hope for the Who Dat Nation.

Bridgewater protected the ball and became the ultimate game manager that our hungry defense needed to keep the other offenses off the field. He only threw two interceptions and fumbled once during his play in Brees’ absence.

Known as ‘Teddy Two Gloves’ for his choice to wear a glove on each hand, Bridgewater has led a rally of fans to wonder if he should be the starting quarterback next season over Brees.

Bridgewater is set to become a free agent next year should the Saints bring back the likely starter in Brees.
