Sign and trade of Drew Brees

The Cincinnati Bengals have the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft. Unfortunately, they need a quarterback and therefore they are going to draft Joe Burrow with the No. 1 overall pick, which means the Saints would need to trade up to No. 1.

The most attractive thing that the Saints can offer the Bengals outside of a plethora of picks, is one of the free-agent quarterbacks that they have. A sign and trade for one of them could just be the deal that the Bengals would accept.

This deal would have to be sweetened more than any other one, because of the age of Drew Brees. According to the 2020 NFL trade value chart, the Bengals No. 1 overall pick is worth 3000 points. The combination of picks alone would equal near 3,000 points.

The Drew Brees would tip it over the edge and give the Bengals a quarterback with at least 2-3 more years in him. The unprotected picks would also give them the opportunity to draft another young quarterback to replace Brees in a later year.
