Saints’ Need

The Saints have three wide receivers that started the season eligible for the No. 2 receiver position — Keith Kirkwood, Tre’Quan Smith, and Ted Ginn. One veteran and two young guns fighting for the position. Kirkwood ended up on IR before he could get a start.

Tre’Quan Smith was on and off of the injury report and never really grabbed a footing to be able to vie for that position early in the season. Therefore, veteran Ted Ginn got most of the No. 2 receiver starts for the New Orleans Saints.

None of the three receivers that we just talked about have to ability to draw any coverage away from Michael Thomas or to prove any threat to the defense. Therefore, the Saints were back to where they started without a No. 2.

That is where Amari Cooper would fit in. The Saints definitely have a need and Cooper would be able to solve all of the wide receiver needs the Saints to have as well as creating the best one-two punch of receivers in the entire league.
