Dallas Cowboys at draft spot No. 17

We already established the fact that the Miami Dolphins are the most in need of a young, moldable quarterback to be the face of the franchise. If the Dolphins go the route of getting a lineman with their first pick, they could try to get him with their next pick.

If they get word that the Los Angeles Chargers are so set on Herbert that they aren’t even considering Tua, they might opt to take the chances he falls to their next pick with is pick No. 18. If the Saints think that is the most likely scenario, then they could trade for the Cowboys pick.

This would put them one pick in front of the Dolphins so that they could snag Tua Tagovailoa at the cheapest point possible in the first round of the draft. They would also only be trading up a couple of handfuls of picks instead of trying to get to the top of the round.

They could offer the Cowboys a first-round pick swap with 2021 first and either a couple of second-round picks or a 2022 first-round pick as well. This would be enough to push the Cowboys over the edge of a trade.

Especially considering that they aren’t dying to draft a certain player, they could afford the extra picks to fall back in the draft.

The New Orleans Saints could use a player with the expertise of Tua Tagovailoa. His injury in this last year made his draft stock fall — which could be to the Saints advantage. They are looking for someone to replace Brees in a couple of years, Tagovailoa could be that guy.
