Eli Apple ended his 2019 season with injuries to add to the mediocre play he was giving the New Orleans Saints throughout key moments of the year.

The New Orleans Saints ended the year last Sunday with a Wild Card loss to the Minnesota Vikings in overtime, a position they should have never been in if it wasn’t in part to their majorly weak secondary core.

The leader, Marshon Lattimore and Vonn Bell can not do everything and that was made evident by the continual long passes strung out by Kirk Cousins to Adam Theilen and Stefon Diggs, blown coverage by some of the other secondary players.

Because of this, the Saints need to be in the market for another cornerback and another safety. Eli Apple showed signs of being that guy early on in the season, but he ended his season is one of the most targeted cornerbacks on the Saints.

Against the 49ers, Apple was blowing coverage against Emmanuel Sanders and Deebo Samuel and whoever he lined up against that was Jimmy Garoppolo’s first option. It showed as the 49ers threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns that game.

With the New Orleans Saints open to the market, here are some of the most notable cornerbacks in the unrestricted free-agency market to replace Eli Apple.
