Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City avoided a possible Madden curse when quarterback Patrick Mahomes II dislocated his patella in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos.

Mahomes II missed just two starts and with backup quarterback Matt Moore calling the shots, the Chiefs lost a game but were able to defeat a playoff team in the Minnesota Vikings.

Although the Chiefs are not as explosive offensively like last season, they can still do enough to win games with weapons like wide receiver Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce.

The defense has regrouped to make Kansas City a feared team, as it stands as the NFL’s seventh-best defense and allows 19.2 points and 221.4 passing yards per game.

The Chiefs winning the AFC West was a forgone conclusion as the year began, but thanks to the New England Patriots’ 27-24 loss in Week 17 to the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City has a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed.

This team has playoff experience and nearly advanced to Super Bowl LIII last season, but it fell just short to the NFL’s greatest dynasty in overtime, 37-31.

They face have to face the Patriots at home in the AFC Divisional Playoff and the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship, but Kansas City defeated both teams during the regular season.

Keep an eye out in the AFC as Mahomes II, the NFL MVP of 2018, may face the NFL MVP of 2019, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, in Baltimore for the AFC Championship.
