Final thoughts

So my predictions for the final segment were spot on.

As for the season, I had the Saints going 12-4, maybe 11-5 with what seemed to be a very difficult schedule. As I often say, glad to be wrong. The Saints went 13-3 for the second consecutive season.

Three teams tied with identical records at 13-3, quite an accomplishment. The Saints, unfortunately, got the short end of the stick as for seeding. The San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers each had one loss to a non-conference opponent.

All three of the Saints’ losses came to NFC teams, so they ended up not being a part of the conversation for home-field advantage or a bye week. And their head to head loss to the Niners also damaged their chances.

In all reality, that loss to the Falcons is the one loss we really couldn’t afford over all the others.

So the Saints head into the playoffs to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at noon in the Superdome.

We owe Minnesota. We gave them a gift 2 seasons ago at their place and lost our chance to play in another NFC Championship game. The “Minnesota Miracle” has a place now in the lexicon of football. The Saints need to no longer be on the negative side of quotable moments.

I think the Saints will have a small amount of revenge on their minds as they go into this game against Minnesota.

While the defense is banged up, the offense is clicking right now. While Kirk Cousins has performed well against the Saints in the past, he’s not won a lot against our guys. He’s only 1-2 against the Saints.

dark. Next. Will fans see Minneapolis miracle 2.0 in 2019?

As long as the Saints aren’t thinking of Green Bay in January this week, they should win this matchup.
