Right before the playoffs are set to begin, the 2020 home and road opponents for the New Orleans Saints got released.

Most New Orleans Saints fans’ are locked in on the upcoming NFL playoffs where the Saints are ranked No. 3 hosting the Minnesota Vikings in the first round. Simultaneously, we are taking a peek at how tough the opponents in 2020 will be.

The NFL did not release the exact schedules for each team, but they did release the opponents and if they are home or away. Looking ahead for the New Orleans Saints, despite what may happen with players leaving and coming, their opponents might be tougher than expected.

Here is a look at 2020 for the New Orleans Saints.

Let’s look at the road schedule first, since it is easier.

The three divisional games are a given. The Saints took the NFC South by the reigns this year losing only once to the Atlanta Falcons. In the divisional play, they were 5-1. Next year should be no different.

The non-divisional opponents the Saints will travel to are the Denver Broncos, who finished 7-9 this year; the Las Vegas Raiders, who finished 7-9 as well this year; the Detroit Lions, who finished 3-12-1; the Chicago Bears, who finished 8-8; and the Philadelphia Eagles, who finished 9-7.

The non-divisional road opponents are frankly laughable. Unless something drastic happens to either one of these five teams, the New Orleans Saints should go perfect on the road.

Toughest Road Matchup: Philadelphia Eagles. They were the only road team to finish above .500 this year.

Most Exciting Road Matchup: Las Vegas Raiders. The Saints get the opportunity to play in the newest stadium in the NFL next year and the first one in Las Vegas.

The home schedule, on the other hand, gets significantly rougher. As always, they will play the three divisional opponents at home as well as the road. Two of the three losses the Saints accrued this year were at home — one against the Falcons and one against the Niners.

The non-divisional opponents that the Saints will host are the Green Bay Packers, the Minnesota Vikings, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the San Francisco 49ers. Out of the five teams, four of them are current playoff teams.

The combined record of the home opponents is 53-25 with 11 of those losses coming by the only team that is not in the playoffs. This is one of the most exciting and difficult home schedules the New Orleans Saints have had in recent memory.

Toughest Home Matchup: Kansas City Chiefs. They are the No. 2 seed in the AFC this year and it doesn’t look like they will be losing Patrick Mahomes anytime soon.

Most Exciting Home Matchup: San Francisco 49ers. This will be a good rematch of the absolute offensive shootout this year that the Saints lost. Next year, revenge will be ours and it will be sweet.
