The New Orleans Saints had Antonio Brown in for a workout and will, later today, be competing in their final regular-season performance.

That puts the New Orleans Saints in an interesting situation.

They need a No. 2 receiver with Michael Thomas having carried the bulk of the load thus far. He’s set the single-season receptions record which is both a positive given his skill set and a negative given how heavily he’s involved in the offense as the team’s only true go-to target on the edge.

For the Saints, they need Brown to be that No. 2 if they want any chance at finding success against some of the league’s best defenses. Arguably the best receiver in the NFL is currently not in the NFL for a myriad of reasons that involve both on the field and off the field incidents.

There are many, many issues with Antonio Brown, and no team has yet to take a chance on him following the falling out between Broan and the Patriots. That lone Week 2 performance is the only time Brown will see in the 2019 regular season.

From getting into it with the Raiders owner to helmet issues to the most recent off the field issues, Brown may be signed by the Patriots and not even allowed to play until the investigations are finalized.

That said, the move is to sign Brown.

Yes, he’s a distraction, but you need that additional firepower entering a tough few weeks in the NFC playoffs. The Saints can learn from the past and not give Brown another chance, or they can try to re-write his future.

It’s a tough line to walk if you’re New Orleans. However, it’s one that’ll eventually be crossed by some NFL team. Why not take it upon themselves to see a potential return in the former four-time All-Pro?
