NFC South rival, the Carolina Panthers, just sent their star quarterback to the Injured Reserve, what implications will it have on the New Orleans Saints?

Cam Newton was certainly not having a spectacular season, sitting most of the games since week one with a foot injury. However, that does not change the fact that he is a dominant player. The New Orleans Saints play the Carolina Panthers twice in the second half of the season.

With Cam Newton now out indefinitely, the Saints can focus their attention on stopping the passing game of Kyle Allen. They do not have to worry or wonder about which quarterback will be under center come time for the divisional rivalry.

The Panthers, who currently sit at 5-3, now will have to ride Kyle Allen to try and fight the New Orleans Saints for their top spot in the NFC South. With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-6) and Atlanta Falcons (1-7)  are securely at the bottom of the division.

Through his past five games, Kyle Allen has rushed seven times for three yards. The explosiveness of the New Orleans Saints defensive line will likely now not have to deal with a quarterback who likes to get out of the pocket, but rather just have to rush one who like to stay put.

The New Orleans Saints, one of the NFL’s top-ranked defensive line, will put pressure on Kyle Allen that he hasn’t seen from the Titans, Buccaneers, Jaguars, or Texans. This will force Allen to make mistake throws right into the hands of Marcus Lattimore and Vonn Bell.

Now, all eyes will be on stopping Christian McCaffrey. He has been on an MVP-like tear this season. He’ll have all eyes on him throughout the remainder of the season. However, things may get interesting in the offseason as far as Newton’s situation goes.

Rumors have also started to swirl that this could be Cam Newton’s last season in the NFC South. While they are just that — rumors — nothing is set or been announced yet by the Carolina Panthers.

As for the Saints, they can just sit and relax knowing that we will not have to face Cam Newton this year on their way to another Lombardi trophy.
