The New Orleans Saints may have an early NFC title game matchup as they take on the San Francisco 49ers at home in Week 14.

There’s no denying that the New Orleans Saints have had a strong start to the season. And, when considering only teams in the National Football Conference, there are not many that have been better.

However, the San Francisco 49ers have been.

In a turn of events that no one outside of the bay area saw coming, the 49ers have started 8-0. After being 2-14, 6-10 and 4-12 in the past three seasons, the 49ers made a couple of moves and came out of nowhere in 2019.

In Week 14, at home, the Niners will match up with the currently 7-1 Saints.

The Niners are the only undefeated team in the NFC and the Saints are the only one-loss team in the NFC. These two have both played a handful of solid teams en route to getting to where they are today.

It’s even more impressive for New Orleans given that half of their success came with a backup quarterback. Although better than some team’s starting quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater was excellent as the Saints’ No. 1.

However, with Brees back at the helm and leading the team, the Saints are looking as good as ever. They have wins over Chicago, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Dallas and other teams that are at least average.

The 49ers have been absolutely dominant as well behind one of the best defenses in the NFL. They allowed 241 yards per game, the second least in the NFL only behind the New England Patriots. They also allow just 12.8 points per game.

In almost all areas of the game, both New Orleans and San Fran have been truly among the league’s best. Now, in just a few weeks, they’ll take on each other in what may be the best game among two NFC teams this season.

Expect their dominance to extend into the postseason, and if it continues, this could be the two teams we see in the NFC Championship game.
