There isn’t a much better feeling than making Stephen A. Smith eat his own words. By continually winning, the New Orleans Saints are doing just that.

We were all a tad bit skeptical of the Teddy Bridgewater-led New Orleans Saints. Can they drive the ball? Can they get in the end zone? Well, Week 5 was a display that would even make the future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees proud.

Bridgewater threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns just a few weeks after Stephen A. Smith, a host for ESPN’s popular TV show First Take uttered the words “done” about the New Orleans Saints.

They are, in fact, not done, but rather the second-ranked team in many new power rankings.

Take a listen to how the analyst felt the Saints were going to operate after hearing the news that Brees was going to be out at least six weeks with a thumb injury sustained in the team’s Week 2 outing.

Since that Week 2 injury, the Saints are 3-0.

Max Kellerman, his co-host, defended the Saints. That forced Stephen A. Smith to go off on how the Saints were done. That’s the point of the show though; each must have a different, controversial opinion.

However, Stephen A. was way off.

“The Saints are done without Drew Brees. Period. I like Teddy Bridgewater. I’m not saying he’s not starter material,” Smith said.

He also noted how the chemistry may dip between the quarterback and superstar receiver Michael Thomas. Well, that seems off as well given that Thomas just caught 11 balls for 182 yards and two touchdowns.

Yes, Brees will retain his spot as the starter upon his return, but the Saints are still a contender with Bridgewater leading the way. He’s far from the quarterback that your team wants leading them into the playoffs, but he’s proven to be a very capable starter these past three weeks.

That said, sorry Stephen A., but you were way off on this one.
