The Saints now move forward and get to play in one of the last three games of the NFL season. They face a rematch with the Los Angeles Rams who took care of the Dallas Cowboys (sorry fans who wanted the rematch) in their divisional game.

The Rams looked well rested and will pose a solid challenge next week. The Saints played them well in the regular season, jumping out to an early lead, only to see that lead zapped in the 3rd quarter.

Our guys pulled it out late on a Wil Lutz field goal, followed by a 72-yard TD pass from Brees to Michael Thomas past noted loudmouth Marcus Peters. This was the last major defensive let down of the season (outside of the season ending Carolina debacle) so our defense will want to atone for allowing the Rams back in.

Next. Saints set date for NFC Championship with win over Eagles. dark

For all the things that have happened in the season, it comes down to the two best team in the conference playing for championships on both sides. While many people like the underdog role (and if the Saints were an underdog, I would like that too), there is a nice feel to having the teams that earned it all season getting the chance to earn it in the end. Let’s hope the pattern holds, and we will see our Saints face the Kansas City Chiefs for all the marbles in three weeks.
