If there’s one certainty I’ve come to appreciate when it comes to the New Orleans Saints, it’s this: No news is good news in the dog days of Summer.

Between Nick Fairley and Terron Armstead, I’ve had just about all the heartbreak I can take, and the Saints haven’t even put on pads yet. If we can get through this next month without seeing the Saints discussed on NFL Network or ESPN that would be absolutely fine with me. We haven’t made the playoffs in so long; there is no reason to talk about us unless it’s way too early Adrian Peterson hype or bad news.

Not all Saints Summer News is Bad

Now please don’t get me wrong, I’m interested in all the analysis and speculation put out by Who Dat Dish and all the other networks that cover the Saints. I just don’t want to see any more damn breaking news. Mark my words, if we see the Saints mentioned on ESPN’s bottom ticker in the next month, it probably won’t be a good thing.

The obvious exception here would be good news regarding Nick Fairley’s heart condition. But given how the past few summers have gone for the Saints, I’m not holding my breath on that front. In fact, my personal feeling on this is that the closer we get to Training Camp without hearing anything the better. I’m just waiting for the next summer news hammer to drop.

There’s plenty of roster rankings and film study that I would love to analyze at leisure. Drew Brees #16 ranking on the NFL top 100 players list is also something to celebrate. Unfortunately, I’m too wrought with anxiety to focus on any of this because I’m concerned about the left tackle position and potentially replacing Fairley on the D line.

So Saints, please do all of Who Dat Nation a favor and have an extremely quiet summer. Our playoff hopes are counting on it.
