Taking precautions: Saints have interest in Cody Wallace
The New Orleans Saints and the Green Bay Packers among the teams who reportedly have an interest in center Cody Wallace.
The New Orleans Saints have been prominent during the offseason. They’ve acquired several players. Among those the Saints paid particular attention to the offensive line, signing OG Larry Warford during the offseason and drafting OT Ryan Ramczyk in the first round. These additions along with the interest in Wallace clearly show the Saints are committed to improving the offensive line this season.
Wallace, a 32-year-old offensive lineman, has experience at the center position with several teams in his professional career. He spent time with the Buccaneers, Steelers, Lions, Jets, and Texans. Wallace has been around. The unfortunate concern regarding Wallace right now is that the athlete is rehabbing from a knee injury suffered while with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season.
If healthy, Wallace could provide a unique dynamic and competition for some of the Saints offensive linemen. The news isn’t shocking considering Saints current center, Max Unger, is currently projected to return sometime during the preseason games from injury.
The addition if made could definitely be an interesting pairing with the current Saints backup offensive linemen. The Saints already have Senio Kelemete, an experienced lineman with the capability to multiple positions, along with Jack Allen, and Cameron Tom, to highly regarded UDFA center prospects. They have depth on the backend of their roster. And it looks like they’d be interested in adding more.
