First, Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers around the world. The fact is, that there would be no NFL football without mothers.

Every single player that has set foot on a football field has been born. That’s a fact that cannot be debated. The role of mothers in each player’s life may take different forms. Nowadays, it’s not common at all to have a single parent household. How do these “WONDER WOMEN” do it? The balancing act of working sometimes two or three jobs on top of raising a child is beyond comprehension.

No one will ever understand or be able to feel exactly the trials and tribulations the single mom goes through. These moms are the sole provider for a young man’s journey from boy to manhood. In addition, preparing this man to be a productive citizen and be assisting him to chase the NFL dream down is sacrifice. There is no other position on the field that equals an iota of a woman’s courage to raise a child by herself.

Moreover, a mother can be a grandma or even an aunt, that has single handedly taken over the role of a parent. Furthermore, the kids that get adopted may get the greatest gift of all. Taking in a child or young adult can impact that person’s life forever.

To take it a step further, Mother’s Day can also be painful for many. No one really talks about birth mothers that carry an infant to birth. After carrying the child for months, they hand that same child to someone else. Life simply happens. Perhaps the caregiver just wants a better life for their child or it could be a variety of bad choices. These women should be celebrated too for the ultimate sacrifice of love.

Above all, there would be no Joe Montana or Drew Brees. There would be no Super Bowl memories. Even the greatest of coaches still thank their mothers profusely, once the reality of what their mom has done for them is beyond the norm. None of this happens without some motherly figure at some point to men that play in an Alpha Male” sport.

In short, moms provide a steadfast core of cohesion for the family. To the mother that sits in the stands, or to the ones that are working right this very moment. This is your day. Mothers will always feel the hits that the players take. Maybe not physically, but they feel it. Mothers know somehow when a player is just not up to par. Fans forget, that some of the toughest guys out there are still trying to make mom proud.

Kudos to all the moms out there, because the NFL wouldn’t be there without you.
