Although Sean has been cancer free for 3 years since this past January 28th, Cancer is no laughing matter.

This experience forever changed the way Sean looks at life. He takes nothing for granted and honestly, neither should we. To simply live our life’s to the fullest extend each day is all I would ask of those reading this.

Resiliency comes in all shapes and sizes. It’s honestly best described as the capacity to recover from difficulties. Sean was resilient because he had support along the way, including that from the Saints, and among his own family. Sean went in fighting cancer as a Saints fan, and will continue to remain a Saints fan throughout. The Saints along with his family and friends will continue to be a part of his stronghold that keeps this warrior fighting every day.

The New Orleans Saints mean so much more to fans and people alike than most expect. To some it’s our family, it’s what keeps us going every day. Instances like these show just what it can take to be reminded of what we have in our team. The team at times bring people together, and will always be there for people when fans need them. Throughout our lives we all experience low times. It’s important that we recognize who is there for us during those times, like our favorite sports team always will be.

Tyler: Sean, I just wanted to thank you for coming on with me, talking with me for a few minutes, and I really appreciate it.

Sean: Absolutely my friend. I want to tell you, for a long time it was not easy, to talk about my experience. It was just something that I was not comfortable with, and I’ve learned through the course of the process like most people do, there’s other people out there going through the same thing as you are. If one thing that you say helps one person that’s dealing with the same adversity that you’re dealing with, and everything that I went through everything that I experienced, no matter how bad it was, was not for nothing.

I went through some awful stuff, I can’t iterate to you enough. I’m not special, everyone in this life has their “cross to bear” so to speak, everyone has something, and nobody’s life is easy. You might look at the most successful people in the world, but I guarantee that somewhere deep down in places that they don’t like to talk about it. Everybody has something that they have to deal with from day to day.

I’m not special. I was very blessed to be surrounded with an incredible support system, and I’ll tell you right now that wonderful woman that I spoke of a moment ago, for it not be for my fantastic wife, I would not be here right now, and I make no two ways about that. If there’s one thing that I can say to people, everybody has their issues. Take a minute every day to help someone, to offer encouragement to someone, to say, “look, hey I know you’re facing something, you’re struggling with something, I’m praying for you, I’m with you, If there’s anything that I can do to help you just let me know”. That can make beyond a difference in someone’s life, and I promise you they will never ever forget it.
