The New Orleans Saints reportedly have a couple of pre-NFL Draft meetings and workouts scheduled this week.

So far, the New Orleans Saints have private workouts scheduled with Georgia linebacker Jordan Jenkins and Boston College safety Justin Simmons, according to several reports.

After signing James Laurinaitis to a three-year deal last week, the New Orleans Saints may hold off on taking a linebacker with their first couple of picks in the 2016 NFL Draft.  Jordan Jenkins is projected to go anywhere from the second to fourth rounds but could wind up paying off like a first rounder.

With experience at both outside linebacker positions, an incredible football IQ, along with excellent size (6-foot-3, 259 LBS) and toughness, Jenkins could wind up an NFL starter and difference maker sooner rather than later, which is a likely reason why New Orleans is showing interest in the former Georgia Bulldogs co-captain and defensive MVP (2015).

As for Boston College defensive back Justin Simmons, he played both safety and cornerback in 2014 but switched back to a permanent safety role in 2015, according to CBS Sports.

Simmons played a part in ten defensive takeaways this past season, recording five interceptions, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.  He leaves BC with 229 total tackles, 22 passes defended, eight interceptions, four forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries in 50 appearances.  He’s a playmaker in the secondary, plain and simple, and the New Orleans Saints have been lacking something consistent in that department for what seems like three or four years now.

The Saints also reportedly scheduled a workout for safety Jayron Kearse while the staff was at Clemson’s pro day on March 10.  You can bet on New Orleans holding many more workouts and/or meetings with prospects as the draft approaches.
