Picking against the Saints? We’re also drinking the Cowboys & Browns ‘Kool-Aid’ for Week 7 Pick’em

Thoughts from Ian
NYJ over NE
The Jets are absolutely desperate for a win, especially since the news about Dee Milliner came down. While Decker will be presumably stuck on Revis Island, I expect the Jets to pound the 19th best run defense to victory.
BAL over ATL
Where are the Atlanta Falcons fans that were screaming at me that it wasn’t fair to say their team had a horrible offensive line even though they took Jake Matthews in the draft? I have no idea how the Falcons are going to block Haloti Ngata and the rest of Baltimore’s front seven.
The Bucs didn’t stand a chance against Joe Flacco and this hot offense and the Falcons will struggle as well. The Falcons are giving up about six yards per play.
MIN over BUF
Teddy Bridgewater didn’t perform too well, but his defense should be able to keep the Vikings in the game this week. They’ll have a tough time making plays running the ball, so they need to ride Cordarelle Patterson and his play-making ability.
NO over DET
Both of these defenses are catching a break as Calvin Johnson and Jimmy Graham will both be sidelined by injury. The wheel was dangerously close to falling off the Saints season as both defense and offense struggled against the abysmal Buccaneers. The Saints will have a tough time establishing the run but an even tougher time passing the ball if they don’t establish the run.
The Lions will make you pay if you keep them in the game. They are playing at home and would love nothing more than a victory against Brees and company. Reggie Bush will be utilized to much success against this defense. Hopefully, Rob Ryan has used the extra week to prepare to his advantage.
GB over CAR
The Packers should be able to establish a run game against the Panthers, something they couldn’t do last week. Rodgers will be throwing against one of the worst pass defenses in the league, so I don’t see the Panthers slowing them down.
MIA over CHI
If it were not for some last-minute Aaron Rodgers heroics, Miami would have won last week. Jay Cutler struggled without Jermon Bushrod last week in pass protection. He may get him back this week, but Miami’s pass rush is better than Atlanta’s. The Dolphins are also pretty good up front and should slow down Matt Forte running the ball.
CLE over JAX
I am done picking the Jaguars for a while. This team is very close to its first win but they just can’t finish. I don’t expect them to beat the Browns who are rolling right now.
SEA over STL
I’m still scratching my head on how the Seahawks lost last week to the Cowgirls. This game is definitely not a head-scratcher and should be an easy win for the Hawks. Austin Davis is good for one half and he will struggle against that defense.
INDY over CIN
Last week’s tie with the Panthers proved that the Bengals are getting soft. The Colts have been over-achieving on defense especially against the pass lately. Both teams should find success running the ball, but Luck will have a better day throwing the ball.
WAS over TEN
I’m going with my gut here and picking the Redskins. Both of these teams are bad. Hopefully Cousins gets his act back together and pulls out the win.
SD over KC
This is a tough pick. Andy Reid usually wins coming off a bye week but Phillip Rivers is playing like an MVP right now. The Chargers have discovered Branden Oliver (Sproles 2.0) and KC is not doing well against the run this season. The Chargers aren’t doing so well against the run either and Jamaal Charles could be in for a big day. It will also be interesting to see how Travis Kelce does against the Chargers defense.
DAL over NYG
It’s going to be nigh impossible stopping DeMarco Murray and when you over commit, you pay in the passing game. Eli Manning and the Giants will need to establish a running game and stay balanced if they want to hang around to win.
ARI over OAK
What a great spot for an upset. The Cardinals have some tough opponents ahead and might be looking past the Raiders. I don’t think Fitz is though. He has struggled without Carson Palmer and will be happy to have him back. Ellington will be happy to have some room to run against this defense as well.
Derek Carr has been inconsistent thus far and he shouldn’t expect any mercy from Arizona’s defense.
DEN over SF
The Niners are going to struggle against a very good Denver defense. They can get pressure on Kaep and are really stout against the run. Manning knows that this Niners defense and secondary has been getting better as of late. Strap in folks, we are going to in for some great Sunday Night Football!
HOU over PIT
Man, the Steelers really suck. The Texans will feed Arian Foster and have success because the Steelers really suck. LeVeon Bell only had 18 carries last week and he was running the ball well! Another testament to how the Steelers really suck. The Steelers have weapons but I am rolling with Houston here because.. well, you know.
Agree or disagree with our picks? Who do you have as a ‘upset of the week’ candidate?
