Seattle Seahawks Leave No Doubt That They Are the Best Team In The NFL

“A wave came crashing like a fist to the jaw…”

God damn. That was ugly. Straight up beat down by the Seahawks and made to look like a bunch of fools who’ve never really played the game before.

That was the worst “big game” performance I have ever seen out of the Payton-led Saints. Huge props to Seattle. They took care of business. Not just on defense by turning our offense into something more resembling the Vikings offense than the New Orleans Saints Machine, but they also made the Saints look like a bunch of reactionary dummies in letting Russell Wilson beat them with both his legs and his arm. Not at all what I was expecting and I will gladly admit that I was wrong. Couldn’t have been more wrong. I still don’t know what the game plan was for the Saints last night because literally everything that they tried failed. And failed miserably. They were never allowed to get into a rhythm and looked like they had no business on the same field with the Seahawks last night.

Is this some sort of anomaly? Or is this just the way it is when the Saints need to play football in cold, wet weather? I wrote recently that proving they could compete – and win – in that kind of weather was probably a bigger motivation heading into last night’s game than “revenge” for the  2010 playoffs, and if that was the case, well, they proved that they suck and can be easily beat in those conditions.

I’m not writing the team off. They’re still a great team; sitting tied atop the NFC South with the Panthers games still the most important games on the schedule, but Jesus Christ Almighty, that was disturbing. I’m still in shock at the level of suckitude and ineptness that was on display last night. Who the hell were those guys?

Tip of the cap to you, Seattle fans. Your team backed up your trash talking on the field and deserved that win. Beating what was considered the second best team in the NFC heading into last night’s game in the way you did – impressive. You’re going to be a tough out in the playoffs with home-field advantage for whichever unfortunate team has to go play there. If the Saints play like that to finish the season, I’d be just as shocked as I am typing this, and I can’t even think of a word to accurately describe the jaw-dropping disbelief I am experiencing.

For the first time this season, I sit here after a loss without any anger. Just disappointment. Can’t really remember the last time the Saints shit the bed like that – especially on national teevee. There are no bad calls to blame, no players to single out and hate on, no stupid and arrogant play calls to pick on. When your team gets pulverized like that, there is only one place to look when placing blame.

I hope there is a mirror on every player’s locker when they make it back to the facility.

Who Dat, y’all. That one hurt but we’ve got to make sure we’re ready to be a lot better than that for next Sunday.
