It’s that time again! Let’s dive into a batch of New Orleans Saints news, rumors and links as the team prepares for their Monday Night Matchup with the Dolphins. Important things like injuries and other storylines abound, so let’s quit wasting time and get right into it!
Brian de la Puente speaks out on protecting Drew Brees
Katherine Terrell, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
"“We just need to do a better job of protecting him,” de la Puente said. “That’s unacceptable.”“We have seen a little bit more man coverage in the last couple of weeks, but I think we had a (mental error) yesterday on one of the sacks, we turned a guy loose,” coach Sean Payton said. “We pay close attention to it. It is something that we have done a good job with and we feel like it is important if we are going to throw the football to be successful. “We have to keep him upright.”"
Jimmy Graham talks going no where
Mike Florio, ProFootballTalk
"Through three games, Saints tight end Jimmy Graham has 358 receiving yards and four touchdowns. But Graham still doesn’t have a new contract. Per multiple league sources, the Saints have made an offer. Graham’s camp has not yet responded."
New Orleans Saints Weekly Snaps vs. Arizona
Mike Triplett, ESPN.com
"Vaccaro has still played every snap this year — and played them well. So much for easing him into the action. … Vaccaro, Jenkins and Lofton are the only three players to play every snap this season. Jordan finally got a “break,” taking four plays off on Sunday. … It was surprising to see Carr play the nickelback role for the Saints just days after he was re-signed off the street. But it shows how much faith coordinator Rob Ryan has in the veteran, who also played for him years ago with the Oakland Raiders."
Drew Brees nominated for FedExAir NFL Player of the Week
NewOrleansSaints.com
"Brees completed 29 passes for 342 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 21 yards and a touchdown against Arizona.Along with Brees, Denver Broncos’ Peyton Manning and Detroit Lions’ Matthew Stafford are up for the weekly honor.Vote for Brees here."
With the game against the Dolphins set for Monday Night, the injury reports will be delayed until Thursday, so there is no known updates currently for Lance Moore.
