Saints CB Tracy Porter Undergoes Surgery; Out Up To 4 Weeks
By Keith Null
New information has been released on the status of corner Tracy Porter who was expected to miss at least two weeks with a lateral meniscus tear, now after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery that timetable has been increased to as much as four weeks.
Porter’s absence in the Saints lineup is an extreme blow to what has been at times a struggling defensive unit as Porter, paired with the equally dynamic Jabari Greer, form on of the better tandems in the league at cornerback possessing the ability to lock out opposing receivers.
The Saints resigned Leigh Torrence todayto help offset the loss of Porter but the likely candidate to replace him as the starter is corner Randall Gay who is also coming back from a concussion suffered in week three’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Patrick Robinson, the Saints first round draft choice this year, will likely see an increased role as well but has yet to gain the confidence of the coaching staff enough to be thrust into a starting role.
