The Saints didn’t make the playoffs, but they held on to their pride after sweeping their most hated rival, the Falcons, to cap off the 2015 season.

Sweep ’em up, sweep ’em up.  The New Orleans Saints ended their 2015 campaign on a high note Sunday after taking care of business on the road against the Atlanta Falcons and winning the season series, 2-0.

20-17 was the final score as Saints’ kicker Kai Fortbath put the ball through the uprights in the final seconds of the game after safety Jamarca Sanford intercepted Falcons’ quarterback Matt Ryan on what could have been a late-fourth quarter game-winning drive for Atlanta.

After giving up 264 total yards and 17 points to the Falcons in the first half, New Orleans’ defense shut Atlanta out in the second half, giving up only 155 total yards.

Saints stats leaders:

Passing
Drew Brees: 22-42, 323 YDS, 1 TD

Rushing
Tim Hightower: 16 ATT, 66 YDS, 1 TD

Receiving:
Brandon Coleman: 5 REC, 81 YDS
Travaris Cadet: 6 REC, 77 YDS
Ben Watson: 6 REC, 59 YDS, 1 TD
Tim Hightower: 5 REC. 41 YDS
Willie Snead: 3 REC, 35 YDS
Brandin Cooks: 5 REC, 22 YDS

Defense:
Brandon Browner: 7 TKLS
Stephone Anthony: 5 TKLS
Cam Jordan: 3 TKLS, 1 Sack
Jamarca Sanford: 2 TKLS, 1 INT
John Jenkins: 2 TKLS, 1 Fumble recovery

To be quite honest, it didn’t seem like either team wanted this game, but in the end, the Saints reigned supreme over their most hated rival in the NFC South.

While New Orleans knocked themselves down the draft board (just a little) with today’s victory, it was certainly worth it.  If there’s one thing the Saints and their fans hate, it is the Atlanta Falcons.

That’s it, though.  The season is over.  The 2015 New Orleans Saints are no more.  Sean Payton and company have turned in three losing seasons (all 7-9) in the last four years.  It will be quite the interesting offseason.  Nobody is quite sure where within the organization, but change must and likely will happen.

Get ready for a headache, Who Dat Nation — rumors will be common.  For now, enjoy the win over the Falcons and enjoy the playoffs from the comfort of your couch, or a bar stool.  It’s been a bumpy ride, Saints fans, but at least it’s over.
