Well, maybe that’s not entirely true. There’s one thing they do agree on; the New Orleans Saints should be in it. That in itself is entirely understandable. In fact, we should have been in it. We came closer than most people realize, and perhaps as few as 6 plays in the entire season kept us out of the NFC Championship game.
Today I was curious about a few things, and they had to do with fan attitude before the championship game. I decided to do an impromptu poll and see where the fan’s heads were at. The questions in my mind were simple:
- Were most of the fans going to watch?
- Were they going to root for the Seattle Seahawks for NFC Conference pride?
- Were they going to root for the Denver Broncos out of spite?
- Did they even give a rat’s-azz about it at all?
The simplest thing semed to be making the following tweet:
Super Bowl Poll: Give a rat’s-azz about it today, or not? Tell me why.

The answers weren’t long in coming, and I wasn’t surprised by any of them. What follows is a good representation of Saints fans’ feeling today before the game.

I was waiting on that one… Still, most of the fans were going to watch for various personal reasons. Here’s a good basic reason:
@SaintsTailgate I care because its football. Otherwise eff the Seahawks.

A basic question still remained as to who the Saints fans would root for in the game and why. The answers and reasons varied, but again they all made sense. Here’s a girl rooting for the Broncos, without regard for “Conference Pride”. With her it’s all about “family”:
@SaintsTailgate rooting for progeny of Archie. I’ll watch the game, but without the Saints, there won’t be any pre game fanfare for me.

You’ll notice that was more of a statement about the Manning family than a statement against the SeaPigeons. (oops) Having said that, it wasn’t hard to find a WhoDat with an attitude.

“Ahem”… Let’s see, where were we? Oh, yeah… The Seachickens aren’t real popular in the WhoDat Nation.
@SaintsTailgate I’m watching because I wanna see the nasty Seachickens lose…yes, I’m bitter. And, I can’t stand Pete Carroll!

Hmmm… It seems we have some Pete Carroll issues. I can’t say as I blame them. Tell you what, we’ll close with the opinion of a Saints fan with a broader if not cynical view:
@saintstailgate Really just watching for the SB commercials & the halftime show. Just gonna watch cause I’m getting football withdrawal.
