Saints head coach Sean Payton and general manager Mickey Loomis have kept busy this off-season regardless of the NFL’s current lockout, bringing in a bevy of potential draft picks for meetings.

Some people have said the Saints may have suffered from the so called Super Bowl hangover,  or the Madden curse last season, but either way, there was definitely some drop off in productivity on both sides of the ball compared to 2009.

  The first round of fan voting to determine the next cover athlete of EA’s popular Madden NFL series has concluded, leaving sixteen players still in contention including Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

The Saints continue to bring in potential draft picks for workouts and interviews keeping their promise to approach this off-season business as usual regardless of the on going lockout. The National Football Post reported the team was going to meet with OSU running back Kendall Hunter, and Texas corner back Curtis Brown among others.

  Thursday in Marco Island FL,  the NFL players concluded their annual meetings with the total support from all past and present players.

Virginia Tech quarterback Tyrod Taylor is scheduled to visit the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to one NFL source with knowledge of the situation.

The NFL dished out thirty-two compensatory picks today to twenty-three total teams for the upcoming draft. The idea is to award these extra picks to teams who lost free agents last season.

The Saints are usually a team that like to play their cards close the chest when it comes to whom they are targeting in the draft. They are also notorious for going against the grain and the obvious pick to take the best player available regardless of what they may need at a given positions.

Where There’s a Deuce, There’s a Way! January 13, 2007.  In a season that saw the Saints’ workhorse, Deuce McAllister,rush for over 1,000 yds for the 4th time in his 6 year career, score double digit touchdowns for the first time since the 2002 season, and basically pummel opposing defenses each and every week, his season was defined by a 5 yard show of force that most certainly broke the will of the Eagles defense in the Divisional Playoff matchup.

Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints along with Eric Berry from the Kansas City Chiefs joined NFL prospects Prince Amukamara and Titus Young at a local Los Angeles high school football practice on Saturday, much to the surprise of the coaches and players, and joined the team for practice and drills.
