New Orleans Saints: Chris Ivory, Jabari Greer And The Atlanta Falcons

facebooktwitterreddit

Running back Chris Ivory missed last weeks game against the Baltimore Ravens after becoming a last minute scratch when his hamstring remained tight through out pre-game warm up’s.

He aggravated the hamstring a week before during the first quarter of the Saints win over the St. Louis Rams after rushing for 47 yards on seven carries, he did not return for the remainder of the contest.

Ivory leads all rookie running backs, and Saints running backs, with 683 yards and five touchdowns. He has proven himself to be a play maker in the offense even after going undrafted out of Tiffin University this year.

His absence last week against the Ravens surely contributed to their loss as Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomans and Julius Jones combined for only 27 rushing yards which forced the Saints to rely heavily on the pass attack.

Ivory has practiced with the team this week in a limited role but still is experiencing tightness in his hamstring making his status for Monday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons still very questionable.

Corner back Jabari Greer has returned to practice in a full capacity after injuring his knee in the third quarter of the Ravens game. His return to the game remained probable although he in fact never returned to the contest.

Greer is considered the Saint best corner back and his involvement in the Saints defense makes a huge difference in how they play as he has the ability to lock down his side of the field and shut out opposing receivers.

Likely he will be tasked with keeping Falcon’s receiver Roddy White in check who so far this season has 106 receptions for 1,284 yards and eight touchdowns. In the Saint last matchup with the Falcons he had five receptions for 69 yards and one touchdown.
