Saints Dump Pro-Bowl DT Rod Coleman Among Others In Latest Roster Trim

AUTHOR: | IN: Editorial, Saints, Team Cuts | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s not really a surprise to any0ne that cuts have begun, all NFL teams must get their roster down to a 75 player minimum by tomorrow, the Saints just started early. New Orleans just hit the 75 mark by cutting three players, DT Rod Coleman, CB Gregg Fassitt, and WR D’Juan Woods. Fassit and Woods were no surprise cut. Woods has battled a neck injury for most of  camp that has prevented him from playing in two out of three of the Saints pre-season games, and with the talent and depth the Saints have at receiver there was no way this kid was [...]

New Orleans Saint Lance Moore Impresses In His Return To The Football Field After Injury Hiatus

AUTHOR: | IN: Editorial, NFL, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

Lance Moore has taken a long road en route to becoming an NFL starter that it almost seemed unfair when he suffered a dislocated shoulder and torn labrum while lifting weights early in the off- season. This all after coming off his most impressive season to date where he led the team in receptions (79), yards (928), and total touchdowns (10). The injury would require surgery thus effectively thwarting his off-season development and depriving him of his snaps with the first team offense. Did any of this keep Moore down — absolutely not. The young receiver bided his time while he recovered [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: Gameday, News, NFL, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

New Orleans continues it’s pre-season perfection after securing a decisive one sided victory over the Oakland Raiders, 45-7, improving to 3-0. The scoring fest started early after Brees carried the first team offense down the field going 4 of 4 for 60 yards, a few running plays later FB Heath Evans punched in a one yard touchdown to make the score 7-0. From there it was all down hill as the Saints were able to do score at will totaling  536 yards of total offense while scoring six touchdowns, three on the ground and three in the air. After Brees went [...]

Second Year Backup Jermon Bushrod Hopes To Step Up Big In Place Of Injured Pro-Bowler Jammal Brown.

AUTHOR: | IN: Editorial, Injuries, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

Pro-Bowl left tackle Jammal Brown may be out longer than the Saints would like after having surgery to repair a sports hernia injury, the same type of injury that hobbled Jeremy Shockey for much of the 2008 season. Brown was the selected with the Saints 13th pick in the 2005 draft after widely being considered the best offensive lineman in that years crop of incoming rookies. Brown has started 58 games for the Saints since 2005 making two Pro-Bowls  in that span, one in 2006 and again in 2009. The Saints hold on to the hope that Brown will be available [...]

Rookie Punter Thomas Morstead Has Won The Starting Role After The Saints Announce Release Of Punter Glenn Pakulak

AUTHOR: | IN: News, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

Punter Glenn Pakulak was a player working on borrowed time after the Saints traded back into the 2009 draft to acquire steel legged SMU punter Thomas Morstead in the fifth round. Apparently the Saints didnt belevie that Pakulak, a mid-season addition to the team last year, was the answer to the their kicking woes. This after Pakulak appeared in eight games last season and averaged 47.7 yards per punt, a pretty good season for a punter which will likely secure his spot on another team. During training camp Morstead has out shined Pakulak with his kicking power, so much so there seemed to be no [...]

Robert Meachem Looks To Ascend Saints Depth Chart At Wide Receiver After Two Disappointing Seasons

AUTHOR: | IN: Editorial, NFL, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

Saints 2007 first round pick Robert Meachem is making a strong case to be a part of the Saints starting trio of wide receivers this season after a disappointing start to his NFL career. New Orleans selected Meachem with the 27th overall pick in 2007 draft after an impressive college career at Tennessee where he was known for his big play capability and elite speed. Shortly there after things turned south for Meachem when it was reported he showed up to camp overweight and under prepared to handle the Saints complicated offense, this in addition to suffering a nagging “sore” knee [...]

Superb Run Game Highlight 38-14 Victory Over Texans As Saints Roll To 2-0

AUTHOR: | IN: Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

In a welcome change of pace it’s the Saints run game in the spotlight during a 38-14 bashing of the Texans at Reliant Stadium, highlighted by fourth year running back Mike Bell. Bell ran all over the Texans first-string defense posting 100 yards on 10 carries including a 46 yard touchdown down run in the second quarter. Bell is certainly a lock for the third running back spot behind starters Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas after an impressive camp and the phenomenal performance in tonight’s game. Rookie runner’s Herb Donaldson and P. J. Hill both added a little spark to the Saints run [...]

New Orleans Saints: RB Reggie Bush Re-Thinks “Juking” So Much, CB Malcolm Jenkins Stands Out, LT Jammal Brown Could Miss Significant Playing Time

AUTHOR: | IN: Editorial, NFL, Saints | COMMENTS: None Yet

At some point in every players career they realize that not all criticism they receive is un-deserved, Reggie Bush may have just had that moment. After an illustrious collegiate career at USC where Reggie’s juking, elusive running style netted him a 7.3 yards per carry average and national fame, the same success has eluded him in the NFL. Reggie has been criticized for his dances in the backfield that have little to no affect at the NFL level, netting him an unspectacular 3.7 yards per carry average in his four year career. But after three seasons of not living up to the [...]

New Orleans Saints Release CB Jason David, Sign CB Gregg Fassitt

AUTHOR: | IN: News, NFL, Saints, Uncategorized | COMMENTS: None Yet

Its been talked about, blogged, tweeted, discussed, and now it s a reality — Jason David is no longer a New Orleans Saint. I guess success on the practice field just did not translate for David on the football field as the corner back was on the wrong end of several big Bengal plays in the Saints first pre-season game. During training camp David has distinguished himself with big plays and good coverage, garnering praise from his coaches and new DC Gregg Williams. His game time performance though leaves allot to be desired. David was beat by Ochocinco for a hefty [...]
