Three young Saints players poised to break out in 2023
Second Saints breakout candidate: Wide Receiver Rashid Shaheed
Another player who should benefit from Carr's arrival to the Big Easy, Rashid Shaheed has already been turning heads during OTAs and other action, and has also already drawn the praise of his new starting quarterback, especially his speed.
The undrafted speedster out of Weber State has shown flashes of what he is made of, and the results have some thinking brilliance is on the horizon.
In the twelve games Shaheed appeared in, he started six. In those games, he caught 28 of his 34 targets for 488 yards and two touchdowns. Considering his meteoric rise to an NFL field coupled with his limited appearances, those numbers are quite impressive. It's also the reason why Saints fans have been begging for him to get more involved in the offense.
Well that didn't fall on deaf ears. Shaheed is already set to be featured more prominently, and with the connection he already has with Carr, it should be fun to watch. Add in the fact that Chris Olave and (potentially as always) Michael Thomas will share the field and attention from opposing defenses, and all of the pieces are there for a breakout season from Shaheed. Fortunately, he's already off to a good start this summer.
