The New Orleans Saints will play host to a long-awaited debut for star on their new team. This should have Saints fans ready to run through a wall.

During the dog days of summer, sometimes new can be slow around the NFL, whether anyone admits it or not. The hot story in recent weeks was surrounding superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and where he would end up, with the New Orleans Saints being linked off and on to the man known as Nuk. As it turns out, Saints fans won't have to wait long to see him in action in the Superdome, it just won't be wearing their colors.

The news FINALLY broke on Sunday that Hopkins has picked his new team, and it's one that may surprise some folks.

After the initial shock and knee-jerk reactions subside and we get to really dive into the weeds, wouldn't you know it, the Tennessee Titans travel to the Big Easy to play the Saints in the Superdome on the opening Sunday of the 2023 NFL regular season.

It's all the more reason (as if any extra was needed) to be amped up for the upcoming season. Hopkins' debut for the Titans is one that many eyes will be on, which means it's be a chance for the Saints, and their talented secondary, to show the world they aren't playing games.

In his career, Hopkins has caught 23 balls for 250 yards on the nose and two touchdowns in the three games he's played against the Saints. Last season when the Saints traveled to the desert to play the Arizona Cardinals, Hopkins lit them up for ten catches and 103 yards. No doubt the Saints will have revenge on their mind.

It remains to be seen what the secondary will look like as far as the corners go opposite Marshon Lattimore. That said, with Lattimore, Tyrann Mathieu and the rest of the talented secondary that accompanies a strong defense, not to mention this added motivation for opening day, the New Orleans Saints are in prime position to make a statement, and that's not even getting into THEIR notable offensive player in Derek Carr. Get us to September.
