Here are some quick thoughts on the Saints 37-32 victory over the San Diego Chargers in London.
How many times can one compliment Drew Brees without sounding repetitive. He is just so calm and cool in the pocket and unloads the ball with such confidence, it is remarkable. He has full confidence in every single player that is in the game, evidenced by the eight different players to catch a pass in the ball game.
Deuce McAllister looked great on the first drive, looking as powerful and elusive as we’ve seen in a long time. Where that went afterwards, who knows.
The tandem [...]

Well, when it rains it pours.
Torrentially.
The Times-Picayune is reporting that DE Charles Grant also tested positive for a substance on the NFL’s banned substance list.
Two days before one of the highest-profile games of the NFL season, between the Saints and San Diego Chargers at Wembley Stadium, McAllister and Smith were the only players specifically named in the Denver report. The source was also quoted as saying that three to four players who tested positive were from the Saints, and The Times-Picayune learned later Friday that Grant also was among those who tested positive.
Now what?
It has been reported that the players [...]

Josina Anderson, of MyFoxColorado, is reporting that RB Deuce McAllister and DE Will Smith turned in positive drug tests as a result of taking water pills to lose weight.
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
This has to be a joke. Just when the Saints seem like they were about to finally unleash Deuce, this happens. Smith and McAllister were apart of a group of “six to ten” players who tested positive according to Anderson, including another one or two Saints players.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what comes out of this, as players are subject to a four-game suspension under the steroid policy.

Here are some quick thoughts on the Saints 34-3 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
If you haven’t heard by now, Drew Brees runs the Saints. When he is as accurate and as precise as he was today, the offense is unstoppable.
Kudos to the defense for not allowing a mediocre offense look better than they were. Say what you want but the defense has turned in three solid performances in a row.
New kicker, same issues. Rookie K Taylor Mehlhaff missed on a chip shot early in the contest then kicked the ball out of bounds on a kick off. He did come [...]

The Saints inactive list for today’s game vs. the Oakland Raiders has been released.
They include: WR Marques Colston, TE Jeremy Shockey, CB Aaron Glenn, S Kevin Kaesviharn, WR David Patten, DT Antwan Lake, and DT Sedrick Ellis.
Very few surprises here except for Marques Colston, who many thought would see action today.

I stumbled across a great article while on the The Times-Picayune website. The article contains a list of 26 reasons to love #26, Deuce McAllister.
Here are some of my personal favorites:
No. 2 – For remembering how he was treated in that backup role and making sure he didn’t make the same mistake with Reggie
No. 3 – For always falling forward for that extra yard
No. 5 – For the Philadelphia playoff game
No. 11 – For his 50th touchdown, a 1-yard plunge that showed us that he is still the man
No. 16 – For being the only Saints running back to [...]

The Saints offense will get a tremendous boost this Sunday as WR Marques Colston (questionable) is likely to play.
Although the passing attack seems to be fine, the receivers have been terribly inconsistent. Lance Moore leads the receiving crew in receptions (22) and yards (234) but the majority of those totals all came in one game. The addition of Colston back into the lineup and the eventual return of TE Jeremy Shockey should give the offense all the firepower it needs as things are starting to get testy.
