The defense carried the New Orleans Saints during the 2021 season and the unit should continue to be a strength in 2022. What could the starting lineup look like?

While the New Orleans Saints struggled to score points last season, fortunately, their defense was able to prevent opponents from putting up a ton of points. The defense was easily the strength of last year’s team and that should continue to be the case this year even with the improvements made on offense.

With training camp just around the corner, let’s take a stab at what the starting defensive lineup could look like for the black and gold in 2022.

Starting Defensive Line: LDE Cam Jordan, LDT David Onyemata, RDT Shy Tuttle, RDE Marcus Davenport

This feels like a safe bet but this time next year will be another story, as only Jordan is under contract for 2023. Onyemata and Tuttle have been solid on the interior of the d-line and while it took Davenport some time to shed that bust label, fans finally feel pretty good about what he brings to the team.

It’s doubtful that any of the reserves push for a starting job so unless injuries occur, expect to see these four guys in the trenches in Week 1 against the Falcons.
