Saints Roster: Ranking the candidates for the No. 3 RB job

1. Abram Smith
Some might not agree with this take but the Saints clearly believe in Abram Smith. When they signed Smith, they offered him $222,000 in guaranteed money, which is a clear sign that they think this kid can ball out for them.
Smith’s 2021 college stats at Baylor back up that sentiment too, as he rushed for over 1,600 yards and found the end zone 12 times. He was a stud at Baylor last year and he has a good chance to become a star in the Saints’ offense this year.
This summer will be when Smith has to show what he can do and he’ll have an opportunity to build on that while Kamara is out. It might seem bold to say that the UDFA rookie is the favorite to win the RB3 job but the other guys just don’t seem as capable of sliding into that role and contributing as much as Smith would.
Washington is a special teams guy, Jones disappointed last year, and Ozigbo has floated around a few teams and hasn’t been able to stick somewhere. Abram Smith has a really good chance to win the RB3 job and make a name for himself in the Big Easy.
