The New Orleans Saints roster currently has six running backs as the team inches closer to training camp. Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram are the top two on the depth chart but who will earn the RB3 job?
When looking at the New Orleans Saints roster, the top two running back spots are easy to pinpoint. Alvin Kamara will be the starter once his suspension is over and Mark Ingram will be his backup when Kamara returns.
With that Kamara suspension lingering, however, the RB3 in the offense is going to be very important during that time because they’ll be the backup running back behind Ingram.
Let’s rank the candidates who could potentially serve in that RB3 role.
4. Devine Ozigbo
After a stellar career at Nebraska, Devine Ozigbo started his NFL tenure with the Jaguars, where he spent two and a half years before landing with the Saints in 2021. He appeared in just two games and then went back to Jacksonville, had a cup of coffee in New England, and then found his way back to the Big Easy.
Ozigbo is one of the more experienced running backs on the Saints’ roster but that doesn’t mean he’s the right answer to be the RB3. He’ll have to show up big time this summer if he wants to ensure he wins that role.
