2. Tommy Stevens
I mentioned in the intro that the Saints had a rough go of it in the 2020 NFL Draft and Tommy Stevens is the one player I didn’t mention in that blurb. That’s because the team traded into the seventh round for the Mississippi State quarterback and he never appeared in a single game for them.
In fact, Stevens was cut by the Saints before the 2020 season even got underway. It wasn’t really all that shocking considering the team still had Drew Brees as well as Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill on the roster. Stevens was brought in as competition but was quickly on his way out.
Stevens ended up appearing in one game for the Panthers during his rookie year and rushed the ball four times for 24 yards. That was the first and last time the former Saints draft pick has appeared in a regular-season game.
Stevens spent a brief amount of time with the Giants in August 2021 but even with the position change (he moved to tight end for New York), it wasn’t enough for to keep him on the roster. He hasn’t been on an NFL roster since August 2021 so it’s safe to say that Stevens’ NFL days are over.
